does anyone know anything about this???
You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message
with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who sent
it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the
whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone
who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason
why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts It is better to receive
this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a
friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by
McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This
virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital
information is kept
Without even looking it up, the language alone shows its a hoax.
The 'virus' itself is the text - one part, not included in your bit above, will say forward to everyone you know.
Like all chain-letter email (which is what this is) in recent years, its a stunt to harvest email addresses, which can then be used for more sinister things. (earlier ones were designed to clog email systems).
Here's how it works:
A scammer sends out the email, as spam, to his list of emails in his email list (esp those on the 'sucker' list). This people then forward to all their friends (without removing headers), who do likewise, and so on. Eventually, it gets back to one of the many spammer's email inboxes, who then have collected all those email addresses its ever been forward to.
Same happens with the Joke emails.
The standard advice, if you must forward stuff, is to remove all headers before forwarding, and to use the BCC feature of your mail client, rather than simple To.
