Loo-Knee's Mini Meet
« on: 22 November 2008, 19:07:22 »

Had a good day today, had to leave them at it unfortunately.

Managed to get Ljay's Cambelt etc done, with Huge Thanks to Zok, Tony & Looknee for helping.

Growler's car was being very troublesome, hope you got it sorted in the end.

Nice to meet some new faces, and of course the old ones...

few piccies I grabbed before leaving..

Thought you would recognise it.

I even drew a small smiley face to make it feel at home ;)

It was having a new cambelt, and cam cover gaskets, which had started weeping.

it was playing up though, and was being stripped down for the 3rd time when I left.

Not fully sure, as I was under my own bonnet for most of it...

But my understanding was...

Stripped down, work done, reassembled, ran fine for 5 mins or so warning up.

Then it stalled, and made a funny noise.

Stripped back down to cambelt...timing spot on, all torque's correct.

Reassembled, and started again..

Sounded a bit like a socket or something was jumping about in the inlets, stripped down and there wasnt.

They were removing the camcovers again when I felt.

I wonder if a socket or bolt or something has got in there with the camshafts  :-?

I remember Hotel21 and I once stripped down to his cambelt kit, and on reassembly the water pump made an awful racket, for no apparent reason  :-/

If there's nothing down the valves, maybe something's gone under the camcover. If it's running on all 6, and removed, chances are it'll be ok...

How much more work did you get done?

When did you get away?
