Wheels In Motion - Very Impressed!
« on: 22 November 2008, 15:13:58 »

Having missed the meet at WIM earlier in the year (wishbones and idler needed doing), I got booked in for this morning. Met Tony and got to work on the car, all ok now but a few strange settings to start with.

Front toe was a bit off and steering wheel not straight, front camber was almost bang on vertical so Tony set it to 1deg 1m and the rear wheels were both pointing left in relation to the front (o/side adjuster seized solid - even after plus gassing for a week & heat).

Overall, very pleased and the car drove much better, no more skitting around the road  :D

Did you ever get that adjuster freed up then, enabling Tony to set the geometry?

Yep. You will struggle to get yours done by the local tyre place for what Tony charges.

On top of the cr*p job you would otherwise get, Tony is very precise and he uses his own well researched settings. These settings have been ignored by the rest of the industry too, despite his best efforts.

Lastly, you have the assurance that your Omega has been setup by (IMO) the best in the country.

Definately worth it. You will see.  :y

Never managed to get it free, it was solid. It wasn't too bad as that side was within limits, but not perfect. The other side needed the most attention, and thankfully it came undone.

Yes. Definitely. The car feels so much less twitchy on the M'way and just a lot more feedback in general.  :y

Nice one - I've just booked myself in for saturday, to get the skittishness removed from my motor.

Given all the top ratings for WIM on here, i'm actually looking forward to it...  :)

I sat in the waiting room for the first 10 minutes because it was so chapping outside, but once Tony got started I poked my head in and got involved - really interesting stuff.

I would recommend it to anyone for £60+, and if you hold out a bit longer Gordon might knock 2.5% off the VAT for you - what a joke.

It is worth getting done when you have to (inevitably) change the wishbones or if you have to have the suspension apart for any reason.

I had no gripes with the car apart from tram lining, but I knew as I had changed the 'bones, drop links & idler, that it would be way off, and I was right!

You will never waste your money at WIM... I can almost guarantee that the settings wont be at the point that Tony sets them to!! :y :y
