that stupid idiot with the eyebrows
« on: 25 November 2008, 18:32:27 »

I have to write a load of sql scripts for my brother's shop to reprice some of his stock due to the vat cut.

Utterly pointless  >:(, and i dont think the pillock realises for many that its too much work.

I take it you haven't seen Vince Cable or Ken Clarke calling him incompetent without actually saying it out right

Our case - VAT at invoicing, so on Monday morning tell them to look in VAT setup screen

yeah, the system i wrote my brother has that, but as he sells to consumers, not trade, things aren't so simple. for consumer purchases, £7999 sounds ok, £7827.82 isn't quite right...

Many of his manufacturing suppliers, for example Tag, Omega etc, do not allow their retailers to alter from RRP, and they are still aiming for either no reduction or still a '99' ending price, so most of his watches will have to be manually done

Don't suppose he services Breitlings, does he? Mine's stopped auto-winding and it feels like something's rattling around inside. :'(

Vaseline at the ready...

A small business owner (who are most at risk ) was on the radio today saying that given the vat cut he now has to sell last months stock at a loss.
   I would'nt be too happy either! ::)

I don't see the point of a 2.0% cut, it will make little difference to the average daily purchases, and if you were going to buy a big tv or car then you would have done so anyway 2.5% reduction did not make you change your mind. :-X

I agree that the reduction will probably not make anyone spend more ... but it should get me £300 off the new pikey wagon when I collect and pay for it next week ..    :) It was ordered a month or so ago, so comes under "planned expenditure" .. nowt to do with eyebrows so called "incentives"
