We had a dyson hoover - only lasted a year before it gave up the ghost - bought another half the price, works just as well and has lasted twice as long - Zanussi are best for washing machines.

I'd buy another Dyson cleaner, i've had two in 15 years & the second one's still going strong (apart from the hose has split).
I swear buy Hotpoint washers, i've always had Hotpoint & i find them very reliable. The one previous only had a new pump in 11 years & the programmer went in the end. My current one is three years old now & still going strong :y

Interesting, I guess yours don't get that much heavy use.

Hotpoint I have found really crap, the bearings fail, the motors eat brushes and the plastic tubs cant even keep the bearing carriers in place! (I have had 2 plus have to look after the mother in laws and my mothers!)

As for the Dyson, they suffer from poor plastics and a very poor motor design that is a bit prone to burning out. This to me is no surprise as it takes 10's of years to refine such processes and design techniques and hence why the cheaper cyclone vacuums are not only as good but often better and definitely more reliable.

That makes me sound like a right dirty bugger ;D
I do live alone, no family, so i guess they don't get as much use as your house ;)

I've had a couple of Dyson vacuums and they've had alot of abuse like cleaning up plaster dust and the secret is to change the filters regularly, infact my original Dyson vacuum is used to clean the car out and I fix the nozzle to my power tools to suck the wood chipping up ::)

And prolly why the motor burnt out in the one i had.......just over 2 years and over £300 to buy, used once a week for the whole house >:(
I got a upright cycline VAC now......seems to be lasting.....

As for washing m/c's and dishwashers both mine are Bosch and about 15yrs old.....still going stong.....I changed the pump in the washing m/c because it became noisey.....but thats the only thing for both of them......both used about 4 times a week.

I have a Dyson washing machine - only had to call them out once in 4 years and that was to fix the wheel at the front when I moved house as it collapsed due to the weight of the machine.

It will probably expire now that I have sung it's praises lol.
