Yep, a cracking motor. Palatial inside and handled really well in it's day.

I'll keep the Miggy though. I reckon you'd get 20 mpg if you're lucky. And by today's standards it would be a proper barge.  ;D ;D

Evening B. If you google U.K. and R.O.I. Vehicle reg. marks. FG shows as Sussex & Scotland so not sure on that one. i know most of the SX/Hants reg's cos i had so many of them, ie PN, PO, PX, AP,
   My BMW touring was G41 UFG, orinally sold in Worthing. My imported MX5 was G309 WFG. Ivolves alot of scrolling but an interesting site none the less.
   Ironically UF is Brighton ( i think ) so the Beastie wears my colours!!!!  L9 MUF. It's worth a looksee. :y

These were belting motors - I had an L reg (1973) 3 Lit V6 Granada Ghia - top spec motor for the time - cruise all day >100mph.  Metallic green with vinyl roof. Auto box, power steering, super stereo system + other goodies.  Bl**dy quick for a big car - main issues with engine - tendency for inlet manifold to blow >30K miles and need to get timing spot on for max performance/economy.

Went from TR6 to one of these - not as quick as TR but so much more comfortable.

It was Cupar/fife until the change of reg order when the plates changed from ABC123D to D123ABC.  Thats when it changed from, in the case in point, Scotland to Susses as per your quote.

If you also check the XA prefix, it will show as London and Scotland - in this case, Scotland is Kirkcaldy... :y :y

Any plate of this era that has an 'S in the position of the example 'FG' was first registered in Scotland somewhere....   ;)

Im surprised at the FG suffix covering both areas over the plate changes but you're right it does. Strange how others stayed in the same area through the changeover ie AH was always Norfolk & NJ, PO, PN & PX stayed southern reg's.
    Help, i'm becoming obsessive!!!!!! ::)
