Insurance!
« on: 06 December 2008, 00:42:32 »

Due to pick me new miggy up later on today (Saturday)  ;D

But what a ball-ache trying to get the insurance sorted...  Been on the phone on-and-off to em all day, and only just got it sorted!

Was showing up on their system as an Elite Auto (which it ain't - it's an ex-police manual)

And the log-book says the model type is "Special", to which they said something along the lines of it's it's a "Special", they can't insure it!  >:(

I said it was as near as damn it to an MV6, but they still weren't happy, saying my insurance would be invalid if I misrepresented the vehicle...!

So, the morale of the story is... god bless my local Vauxhall dealers.  I phoned them with my predicament, they did search on the reg number and the VIN number which did (after much searching on various databases) result in my new miggy coming up as a 3.2 MV6 manual.

Which, of course, still didn't come up on my insurer's database.  So I gave them the contact details of my insurers later on this afternoon, they spoke to them and got it all sorted, and my insurers phoned me up earlier to say it's all sorted now.

It took a lot of messing about on the part of my Vauxhall dealer to get it sorted, but they did do - even though their weren't a penny in it for them.

Now, to me, that kind of service is refreshing, and needs recognising  :y

You just wonder what the police insurance had this car down as if the central records were incorrect somewhere and how it wouldhave affected any claim? :o ;)

Can see it now:  "Uninsured Police Car Crushed" !! ;D

They used to -- and assume still do --"carry their own risk".... they were basically their own insurers !!!!

Thanks HC, perhaps that is just as well!! ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

I just had an impression with Kent Police that they are commercially insured, but I am ovbiously wrong. ;)   I suppose the "premiums" would be through the roof! ::) ::)
