have you actually contacted microsoft, they are very aware of this problem and are fixing/replacing for free, you can register the machine for an extra 12 months against this, they are sorting this prob out for people who have fell foul or the red lights of death, dont throw it away, microsoft will likely sort iit even tho its out of warrentee ;D

Our 360 packed up twice in 5months. First was Red Ring of Death then the DVD player knackered up.

Ended up selling it as spares or repairs for £50 on ebay and got rid of all the games and accessories too.

Saving up with all the cash we can to get a ps3 in the new year.

360s are great COD4 was brilliant, but who needs a console that needs so much attention and has such reliabillity problems......??

Not us.....!! At least with a ps2/3 you know that when you turn it on it is going to work........!!

If its been chipped or opened in anyway ie the security seal removed or tampered with in anyway they will just send it back  :(..... the repair is easy to do and worth a shot ,  im not good with electronics and the kits come with good instructions and even i managed it ..... if you weren't so far away i would have done it for you  :-[

Sorry mate but thats not strictly true.

Yes, they fixed our RROD on our 3 yr old machine, but you only get an extra 3 month warranty on it when you get it back.

Our DVD player packed up 5 mths after the RROD and despite many letters of complaint to Microsoft, they wanted £60 to fix it, which frankly we werent prepared to pay. If we had agreed to pay that we would have then got another 12 mth warranty, but whats the point???

The machine will pack up again sooner or later anyway and I dont need the hassle.

ive had mine roughly 2 1/2 years and its been repaired once due to it crashing often.

recently the disc drive was playing up and that problem fixed itself!

then red ring of death the other day but i think it was down to me moving all the wires around recently behind the tv - been fine since!

best console yet and cheap as chips to buy at the moment too!

get that ix of of ebay and do it yourself - worth ago if you cant get it to work at all

I fancy an Xbox 360 but it has to be a black one.  I believe it's the Elite version.  Are they still available?
