Seiko Kinetic watches repair kit
« on: 03 January 2007, 15:55:45 »

If anyone else out there has got one of those nice seiko kinetic watches that keeps stopping all the time (no pun intended), then there is  an alternative to sending it back to seiko along with £80 - £100 to fix it.

Just replaced the capacitor in mine.  A bit fiddly but for £15 for the upgrade kit seems like a bargain.  The guy also threw in a new o ring seal as well.  Usfull link to a how to guide as well.

diy watch repairs cannot guarantee its still waterproof.  Watch repairers pressure test watches to ensure they remain watertight...

I realise that but as i rarely even wear it in the shower who cares.  This guy can fit for you and pressure test for abot £41 so still good value.

Agreed, good value :)

My earlier comment was a general warning about people changing own batteries etc in watches need to remember it probably won't be waterproof afterwards :)

I don't even wear a watch (much to my brother's annoyance - one of them is a jeweller), so not a problem I have :)

Is that because you're always on here and can see the time on the top of the sceen? ;)

Funny you should mention that! I broke a watch in July and did not bother getting another one. I love not having one, if I need to know the time then the options are endless, car, phone, clock, ask someone or my favourite "who cares". PS I have never phoned the speaking clock

I haven't worn one regularly for over 15yrs, but usually know the time to nearest 15mins without having to check clocks/phone/pda etc...
