To be fair to those organising/supporting/selecting, its been done a bit on the 'hurry up' as it was very much a late entrant into the 'what calender will we get Aunt Nelly this year' scenario.  To me, if we went down the vote/poll route we would be lucky if it was available for 2010...

**idea** - start a thread now with potential pics for 2010, taken with good quality, high resolution/proper camera images, instead of happy snaps from your mobby of your P&J that would stand intense scrutiny in a photographic publishing place, so as to prevent moans and groans about poor quality rubbish pics.....

 :P

 ;D

The Tax Disc Holders didn't take that long... and they are right, they look good, they were also put on the forum so Forum members could vote which was to their taste. The winner won.
That seems fair to me...
What is the point of doing a "Hurry Up Calander?"
Surely as a group people would want it to look good..

All true...

We are now in January, near as dammit, and even without a poll, its taken almost 2 weeks to get this far?  And still debating?  Add in a poll with the 'yup, thats a good pic' and the associated chasing of a high resolution pic and subsequent production/distribution times and we are another few weeks along the line and into Febuary or more...

Not complaining about those complaining, just trying to see through the logistics of getting a calender out whilst its still reasonably current...   :y

I don't think that it matters that it would not be done for Jan.

If it was done properly and fairly with a vote, with like what has already been said with nice pictures then great. If they all sell then next year they need to be started earlier.

If the Calander is done "Hurry Up" will they all sell? I remember getting £3 off some people was bad enough.

Well as the concensus was that a 2009 calendar was wanted, I managed to set up an email address and go through several changes over 8 pages of 'debate' in a little over a week. So lets scrap the 2009 calendar if you all want to decide between 2 or 3 cars and let s start planning the 2015 calendar!

I have no connection to the club other than owning a car. This was completely voluntary on my part and now I've gone through all the effort 'it's not good enough'! You can all feel free to volunteer you know!

No point spitting your dummy out.... I think the idea of having a calender is brilliant, just that in my opinion which I am entitled too is that we are a Forum, a group of people with the same intrest, which is only fair that it should be voted on.
I also know what it is like doing Volunteering

I agree with both sides of this debate, though things have to be rushed this year if we want them in Jan.

So, I guess the Q comes down to go with what we have, or wait, and spend more time doing 2010 calendar?

I understand both sides myself. Personally don't think it matters if the calenders aren't done for Jan, I would rather the Calender to be right, look brilliant, and be an on going thing for all the hard work that I know will be put in.

I also understand what you are saying here. But the Tax Disc Holders were £3 odd and you wouldn't believe how many people said they would have one then didn't, couldn't afford one etc etc.....

Seems like what should be a good idea has caused a lot of bad feelings....so maybe not such a good idea after all.

Its a calendar with a few pics of Omega"s on...is it really worthy of all the fuss. ::)

Firstly, I would like to congratulate Welung666 for his efforts, you deserve a pat on the back for that at least! I do know how hard it is to arrange things like this! :y

Unfortunately however, I have to agree with Loo-knee. I do love the idea of an Omega Calendar, and I would undoubtedly buy one (if it’s of a satisfactory quality). Personally, I would rather have a calendar that’s late, but of a professional quality over a calendar which has been rushed.

Just over a year ago (when I had the Vectra), a Calendar was arranged in advance, and group shots were taken. The calendar was the small type which sits in a CD case on your desk. (I apologize if a design of this calendar has been discussed, but I don’t know what it will be like, and have assumed it will be a ‘hang on the wall job’?)  If I remember correctly, the calendar was late at been published and thus arrived late. However in my opinion, that wasn't a big issue, as the calendar is something which I wanted to keep which I could look back at in years to come!

Honestly, I think we should put the calendar on hold until there are photos of a professional quality, which we have chosen between us all.

Photos should be taken with an adequate digital camera, which is in focus with the correct colour balance etc. Also some thought should be taken into account when taking the photos; it’s not just the Omega that your taking a photo of, it’s the surrounding area too. What about the countryside, beach, mountains etc  etc. Surely that’s better than someone’s drive / street / garage? (I put a lot of this down to the mad rush again – give people time to find / take decent photos).

Volunteering is something which I don’t mind doing and will continue to do so when possible. I have done in the past on both this club (the Ruforth Meet back in September for example) and on the Vectra forum when I had the Vectra. It is nice to put something back into the club, however sometimes things just don’t go quite to plan, which I feel has happened with this calendar – however don’t take this as a bad thing, it just means we need to iron out the problems between us all, and we will get there with fantastic results whether it be this year or next! :)

Again, it depends on what you want from it...

Its almost like asking people what a car is, for some people its just something which gets them from A to B! For the majority of us on here, its much much more than that!!!  :y

There was no dummy spitting involved! I'm perfectly happy organising it all, even down to the printing. I was simply pointing out (not simply enough obviously) that a few people were asking for a 2009 version hence the quick whipround for photos. I'd rather people stated their opinion in the first place than sit around and mumble to themselves. So now there is NOT going to be a calendar for 2009, I've wasted enough of my time off croppng/editing/lightening/darkening photographs and I'm going to enjoy my last few days off before I return to work! In January I'll start again for next year. Any 'David Bailey' types fancy being official photographer?

Hope fully that will appease everybody  :o
