Key phobs

Hi Guy's.

does anybody know about central locking key phobs? can I get a second hand one and re-code myself? if so does anyone have a spare they would like to sell?.

No, you can't program it yourself.

http://theboy.omegaowners.com might be worth a look if your car takes the RF type. Tech1 needed for IR type, and we only have 1 Tech1 owner on this site, and he's in Spain ;D

Ensure you get the right type - although they may look the same, the variantions are such that it needs to be right technology (RF or IR), type (2/3 button) and make (Bosch/Delphi/Megamos/etc)

To identify the later rf types you sometimes need to open them up and look at what is printed on the pcb, Megamos, Bosch etc have a different internal design, if you get the right one from ebay it's a 5 min job to recode with tech 2 or similar.

I can't remember for definite, but you may need the car pass for the remote, you definitely will for the immobiliser, I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong...

Update your profile with where you live and car model / year etc and there may be someone nearby who can help you with it

Its also on the outside of the case, though you may need to check it under different light conditions to be able to read it properly.

Carpass is needed - the Central Locking or Alarm ECU needs to know the same PIN number that the Immobiliser needs to do any programming.
