I to would like to buy some legitimate software for my Mig and the wife's Astra.
I do not want to waste my money on ebay for a knock off copy.

So where can I buy the right software ? is it dealer only ? will they sell it to me ?

Absolutely not, the EPC is disributed by GM, and infact a dealership is forced t opurchase the EPC and the TEch 2 I.S. tester units otherwise no franchise.

You could try and ask, but I guarantee you the answer is a big fat no.
If you could buy it the software fro all it's simplicity would come into four if not five figures.

Put it this way, mercedes sold the company I worked for four I.S. testers, as we needed them to set ecu parameters and also programme ignition keys etc. - they were 70,000 euro a peice, and it wasn't a case of you don't have to have them, more a tutonic you WILL.

It'd be worth asking your local stealer just for a giggle.  :)

Ok I understand. does that mean then that the literally millions of people who have bought software on cd from like ebay have all purchased illegal copies. because if so manufacturers are missing out big time on something they could be selling. ::)

GM Tech2 testers are available via distrubutors for a few Łk.  TIS 2000 subscription is also available via the distribution channel.  Contact one of the UK distributors is interested.

now this I didn't know.  I knew that the tech 2's were a few grand each, but I never realised that the TIS2000 was available. I wonder how much that is?

The TIS 2000 isn't the EPC3 though is it?, I thought that was strictly Maindealer specific ... i'm curious now, i'll have to find out!

Manhatch, in a word - yes i'm afraid. And you're right, I think the manufactuers could make a nice profit from a subscription service on the software, perhaps only selling a specific model's epc to the consumer.

Pretty certain EPC is available in the distribution channel.

TIS is an odd one, as the full version is no longer produced since last summer, and now you have to subscribe to webtis
