The place itself is ok, the ppl however are horrendus, ignorant and every guy and his dog will be letching over your wife, daughter, grandaughter...

The turkish waiter stories are all true!!

however I can strongly recomend bulgaria. v nice place and the ppl are alot friendlier, accomodation and food is alot cheaper aswell.

We went to Marmaris 12 years ago and had a good cheap family holiday.
Yes there were street vendors floggin cheap perfume that was fake but there arnt drug dealers like other resorts ive been to.
The food was good and the local beer takes some getting use to but I persisted with it  :o
Theres plenty to do and see if you like history
Oh last thing it was 38c most of the time except for the day it topped 40c

I can recommend two places..Where you will feel yourself in UK ;D

#1 Fethiye / Ölüdeniz.. (not Fethiye)  Best Sea and sand..And definitely recommended.. temperatures are relatively better than other places..Many islands and beautiful shores around to visit..you can hire boats, enter diving lessons but please stay away from parasailing as its very dangerous..Many Brits have homes in that area.. Also relatively cheaper than  Bodrum..

#2 Bodrum..  Crowded , active night life but expensive and sea not very good..only if you like crowded discos..

#3 Ku[ch351]adas[ch305]..    For a good sea you need a car..But many British around and British restaurants..

Antalya, Alanya..Definitely stay away..Hot as a oven..You will feel someone cooking you slowly ;D

I do appologise for the generalisation, I agree that every country/city has its bad apples, and they are not all in the same basket  ;D

I'll check some papers and send some info there are really cheap and good hotels.. 5 star hotels are extremely expensive and except a bigger swimming pool and room they dont offer something extra..

here are some pictures
