What if the car is being towed? Is it still a motor vehicle and thus needs a tax disc, or is it a trailer and covered by the disc on the towing vehicle?

My understanding is, you cannot drive a car without tax?

However the problem:

Picking up a car on Saturday, it has a new MOT but no tax.

Its already Thursday, I won't be able to get a insurance certificate by Saturday.

I know you need a MOT + insurance to get tax, problem is i won't have any in time to drive the car. Even if i get one of those 1 day insurance things, cause they won't let you buy tax iic.

Any ideas?

Can i drive the car saying insurance is on the way so i can buy tax?  :-/

Has anyone has experiance with on-line tax?

Thanks in advance!  :y

Did I miss it????

What did you get ????

A car towed on either a rope or a bar is still a car and subject to all the insurance, driving licence etc etc as if it wasn't.  Only way out is if its on an A frame or towing dolly with front (rear) wheels off the floor and therefore does not require a driver in it.  Then its a trailer, but watch the towing weights etc for the towed and towing vehicle combination...
