the first IBM PC that my department buy was 8000 $..

with some 256 Kb memory 5 mb hard disk and a 8088 cpu..

everybody was working on it with 2 hr appointments

and was forbidden to have more than 4 hrs of work in a week :-?

and a CGA screen..

My first pc was an amstrad pc1512, 512k mem and 10MB hard drive, CGA screen, and because it was an XT machine it was incompatible with IBM's grrrrrr

as 4 hrs was not enough for me.. I work in some other places that have no hard disk with hercules screens..

and to compile any code I needed to swap floppies , one for code , one for complier and again swap to save

Must be showing my age, but we never had computers at school, but I did have a Log book and Slide rule!!First work computer I ever dealt with was a System 25 which in the 80s was pretty state of the art and only people like govt depts and m&S had them. Bloody thing was about 3ftx2ftx2ft and it sat above a backup of the same size-but I tell you one thing, slow as it was , the info it provided us was as good as if not better than systems we use now!(or maybe we just had better programmers then!).As for gamers, used to have the old Atari tennis game that you could play on the telly!!Liitleun, on the otherhand, has a Vsmile, ps2, Wii and Nintendo Ds.
