 ;D

A few weeks ago i was decorating the bedroom....

Moved the furniture and revealed an old socket, the type that looks like a standard plug socket but is just a switch,It was for the old heating system(storage type)

I decides to take it away, gets my old man over who gets out his fancy multimeter and declares "its dead"

I goes to the fuse box and turns off the breaker for sockets

Back up,unscrews the front pulls the wires out a bit and unscrews it from the wall........

Pulls the plastic casing outward to pull the wires through the hole in the bottom of the case.........

BANG!!!!

Jeezo,i sh*t myself!! a big blue flash and a burnt mark on the carpet and wallpaper!!

My old mans reaction(from outside the bedroom, after he had ran like a scolded cat)

" i wonder if i had my meter on the right setting? that wasn't dead son"

NO REALLY!!! :o :o

When I used to go in customer houses, that was a fairly regular occurance.  Always made the assumption that mains cables where vertical or horizontal, but a surprising number are diagonal!  Cable testers back then were pointless.
