well it is bitterly cold out today and i have decided that the cambelt change is just going to have to wait!!!!

today i have done the following:

1. oil and filter change. (its only taken 3.5 ltrs and should have 4.5)
2. changed the cam cover gasket.
3. filled the coolant up ( its only taken 3.5ltrs and its should have 5.5)

just ran the car upto temp now i am waiting on it cooling down to do a bleed of the coolant and check the oil level. i am baffaled as to why its levels are so low but not reading low????????

i know why.............. :-?

well i went to move the car and well its wouldnt go into gear. well i forgot i was working on a rover and buy mistake  removed the gearbox sump plug and not the engine.

so now i have a car that wont go nowhere as it has no gearbox oil and i cant turn it over cos its got way to much engine oil in it cos i over filled it bad!!!

i have already had the pi$$ taken out of me. but the rover forum after trying to diagonos the snag finding out my mistake have helped loads heres hoping i can get the seased sump plug out tomorrow am and get some oil for the gear box on monday.

god i feel stupid!!!!!! :( :( :( :(

i really hope so

the only thing is because we didnt realise i had drained the wrong sump we were trying everything to figure out what i had done wroong

had the engine running for a while with too much oil in it, even reved it several times and was doing alsorts to the gearbox in and out all the gears several times pushing the car etc etc.

at least i kinda know that without oil pressure the gearbox wont change gear and it was in neutral before i drained it.

i hate the fact that i cant do anything about it until monday. arrrrh
