Promised the wife I would quit this winter, unfortunatly after a hellish time at work for the last 6 months I asked her for an extension, she just grinned.
My hellish time will end at the end of March which I think is to late for winter  ::)

But will try again next winter.

I gave up by going cold turkey about 2 years ago. Lasted just over a year and then stupidly started again. Really stupid thing is that I mostly smoke thru habit, you know its just association like breaktime=fag, whereas when Im at home I sometimes think that of the 10 I smoked I probably only really actually enjoyed 1 or 2 of them! What a waste of money as well as being no good for you.(Must say that if I get really stressed a cigarette does seem to help tho, even if it is in my imagination!). And I cant stand the smell of stale cigarette smoke, never smoke in the house or car. Simple lack of willpower Im afraid :-[

i stopped last march ,not had one since .I cant say Ive not had a moment or two when i could have murdered one ,but goes as fast as is comes. What i have noticed though is i can smell smoke in the house or car, when one of my family been in either of them .But Ive stopped smoking not them, so id never dream of asking them not to smoke in my car/house.Apart from that my Mum would beat the living daylights out of me  for being lippy  :D :D

If you want to forget about fags it's best not to name yourself after a cigarette lighter. :y

I haven't smoked, so dont have that problem, when my son was trying to pack up (at 20yrs old) I just asked him, would you get a house, spend a lifetime paying the mortgage and once the mortgage is over, set fire to the house, as this is the equivelant cost of a lifetime smoking.

the money he saved paid for his beloved VW Golf, and 4 years later he's still not started again.

that's sort of what made me pack it in .Ive a 7 yo daughter who gave me ear ache then my son jumped on the bandwagon then the wife who stopped a couple of years before started ,but the main reason was the little girl wrapping me around her little finger again

I've gone from 20-odd a day, and now cut down to 5 a day.

I'm having a cig on the way to work, nicotine gum through the day at work, then a cig on way home from work and 3 at night.

Tried going stone-cold before, without any NRT, but always found it hard and ended back on the ciggies again.  But cutting down like I am, I think this time I'm actually going to crack it  :y

Boots are doing a scheme at the moment where you get 8 weeks supply of nrt for a tenner, quite liked the inhalator when I first stopped although it doesnt really work when used in cold air temperatures.

I tried the gum but it wouldn't light,
I had patches and found they worked best when they were on my eyes so I couldn't find my fags, trouble is I couldn't do anything else... ;D

Seriously I do need to stop but with the wife smoking and habit of fag breaks it is difficult but will see how it goes when it gets warmer
