Autobahnstormers membership

Have downloaded the info pack and have filled in Standing order mandate and membership application form. My question is that it says the payment will go out of my bank on the 1st of the next month. Does that mean I will NOT be a member till money goes out?

Pass - all I remember is i got my card within 1 week of signing up.
