Whoa --- arm just went numb !!!!
« on: 04 February 2009, 13:11:41 »

Just had a weird "spell"  :-/  .. This has happened a few times over the last couple of months but today was the worse so far!!

You know when you pick up an object, expecting it to be heavy when it isn't, it tends to fly up a bit further than intended ?? Well ... my right hand and arm went like that for about 30 mins this morning !

Lost all fine motor control. My hand would still do what I wanted it to, but kept "overshooting" and felt numb-ish!!

It has passed now and all systems seem to be normal -- but was a really wierd feeling -- like having an "alien hand"!

There's 2 things I would do in your situation. First of all I would get myself off up the stairs with a box of Kleanex and second thing is phone the doc's for an appointment. Joking aside, phone the Docs ;)

Just a thought HC........but sometimes you can get "stored energy " in your muscles which releases itself every now and then......usually at an inappropriate moment.................as I say just a thought .......I have had that happen on the odd occasion. :y :y :y

Hmmmm -- that's a thought.  Remember that trick where you press your arm hard against a door frame and when you walk away it lifts all by itself ??? It was just like that.

Mind you .... I have no idea where my muscles are getting stored energy from -- I certainly haven't got any spare !!!!!!

H.C.....Doctor......ASAP! ;)

Better to appear to be a 'worrier' and be reassured; rather than run the risk of it being 'something significant' :-*

Could be a mild stroke :-
symptoms usually come on suddenly, and should always be treated as a medical emergency. They include a sudden onset of any of the following:

Weakness of the face, arm, and/or leg on one side of body
Numbness in the face, arm, and/or leg one side of body
Inability to understand spoken language
Inability to speak
Inability to write
Vertigo and/or gait imbalance

Go to your GP and get it checked out :y

Definately go to the doctor. It might be a form of seizure. Myoclonic? It is a form of epliepsy. But please seek Doctors advice.

Thanks for the advice guys and gals ---- methinks it's probably a nerve thing -- much like Richie described -- although I wasn't sitting awkwardly or anything like that at the time.

Bit busy over next couple of days (to much work, not enough time !!! ) ... might give doc a ring next week  :)

'dangle berries' - Phone the Doctor and make an appointment
You would be the 1st to advise the same.
Just do it.

Change the highlighted statement arround.
Too much time - wish I had phoned the Doctor - I am off work for a while.
