In a word ... NO   :)

MS have been doing specials for many years .. when I was an OU student (quite a few years ago now) we got Windows and Office at about 20% of the published price. Military personnel have been able to buy Office 2003  for £17 (I think) for about 3 years .. and can get 2007 for about £40

You have to "prove entitlement"  ...  a mate of mine signed up to a college evening class, got an enrolement/student number, had his form signed by the tutor .. all on enrolement night .... never bothered to go to a class and cancelled the enrolement cheque saying he'd changed his work cycle and couldn't get the time off !!

In the registration, it asks if your a student, parent or guardian, then asks for a college.

I think I'll put my grandchildrens schools.

Can we not create the "OOF Training Colledge" and all of us become students.?

Not sure with current ones, but before you had to prove you were a student.  Also, its only valid (or that used to be the case) while you are a student.

Which is theft at the end of the day.  And with Activation, its nigh on impossible to get it working right for any length of time AND get the essential updates for it.

Remember, no discussion of acquiring/distributing copyright software on this site.

most student software now isn't time locked, but if you ever get caught using it commercially there's hell to pay.

As TB says, the days of jsut getting a hooky serial number are all gone now, as the software makes ful use of the web to call for updates and patches - and although it won't transmit who you are, the home servers will realise that the cracked serial number doesn't exist/already registered and just revert your copy to demo or just brick it.

I know that for some of the free student downloads, the licence only exists for a semester or two, and then times out and needs reverifying.

In the case of the office suite that you're looking at, MS accept that you're a student by dint of the fact that the vendor should have qualified you - adobe like to do that themselves befoere releasing the serial number. >:(
