Zoostorm Computers.
« on: 07 February 2009, 02:38:27 »

Does any one know if Zoostorm computers are any good. Thinking of getting one as my laptop struggles to play games. Zoostorm comes with nvidia ge force 8400 gs graphics which should be well capable of playing games in 3d. Thanks.

Depending on your budget i can really recommend the Dell XPS M1730 with SLI 8800 gtx cards .... gives you twin 512mb cards .....and if you choose a blu ray drive as well....  :y

This is their website: http://www.pcnextday.co.uk/

Mixed feelings about them really.

Bought two top end ish laptops from them for my lads two years ago, based on a rave review in one of the pc mags. One of them was repaired under warranty, transformer problem, they even did more that was required, giving the machine an overhaul while they were at it. Both dvd's are now playing up but that's not unusual for laptops IMO. Other than that they're still going strong, and they do get hammered.

Recommended them to a lady  work colleague who bought two desktops, one of which wouldn't boot up. After a bit of prevarication, they took it back, repaired it, only for it to be exactly the same next time it was booted up.

I ended up speaking to them myself after they'd given her the runaround. they sent out a recovery disk (you don't get one normally). Reloaded the OS and all is well now.

Left me with a bitter taste in my mouth having recommended them.

So as I say mixed feelings.  :-/

What I would say is that you do get a lot of bang for your buck :y :y

p.s. if you're looking for serious gaming you may have to go with better graphics than the 8400GS.

tbh, for gaming, I'd stick to desktops.  Very high performance laptops have cooling issues, and will step down perfomance wise to cope with cooling (or simply switch off).

Actually, for gaming, I'd stick to Xbox/gayStation/Wii....

TB is right, the lads have to make sure the gfx exhaust grille is completely clear or cooling fan goes into max chat.

Indeed if you are gaming then go for a desktop PC.
I find Scan and Ebuyer have some good ones.
look at getting a 9600 graphics card at the minimum, I recently built a PC tower for my Bro-in-law for £600 through parts from scan :y

To add to the replies above I wouldnt bother with a GS spec card either.  I wouldnt go for anything less than a GT spec.  Also if you do buy a new computer dont go for onboard graphics, go for a system with an upgradable card. :y

As I live nearby this store  I tend to buy most of my PC items from them plus I have friends who have bought complete pc systems from them & were highly satisfied, so if I were going to buy a readibult model this is where I would buy from.. :y

Ive never heard of them before was just wondering if anyone had any dealings with them. Saw it in the catalogue £745 so i can pay weekley. Seems good for the money. Cant find the model number so cant google it 22 inch screen so a lot better than the laptop & better graphics. Thanks for the replies
