ParkingEye

Got a "Parking Charge Notice" in the post today from ParkingEye car park management, allegedley overstayed in my local aldi and they want £70 for the privilage >:( (or £40 if paid in 14 days)

Apparently they use an ANPR system to log you in and out and then the good old tinkers at the DVLA sell them your details >:(

Anyone had experiences of these scammers? :-/

Dont see how they can legally enforce it,but not certain.
I think its rather outrageous that the dvla sell our personal data to anyone who wants it. Its a complete abuse of power for a few quid.

That info was available for many a year before ANPR was out and about.  And previous keeper history for a vehicle right back to original owner....  ;)

Cheers Paul :y

been doing a bit of investigation myself and the best defence does seem to be that i am indeed the registered keeper of said vehicle but was not driving it at the time, and unlike speeding offences which are obviously covered by the road traffic act (you have to disclose or take the fine yourself) this is a civil matter and i have no obligation to disclose who was driving at the time ;)

These scamsters try and make the form look so much like an official police ticket with the chequered edge etc >:(

Are they? and why would that be? they are monitoring a private car park.

Don't get me wrong, I have a personal war with a private car park at my place of work, tis a long story and if you have some info that proves it is a scam I would be interested.

Only what i've read this evening, but seems that they play a percentage game by official intimidating letters that will make people pay up rather than risk the consequences, but if you fight highly unlikely they will take you to court (i hope :-/)

The other way to look at it is the information has not been hidden for that length of time or only available to Police or similar....  Its there if you want it, as a potential investor in a few grands worth of motorcar...  Knock on is, the same info is available for any and all folks who want it.  Cant have your cake and eat it too.... ;)
