Anyone interested in diecast model Omega's?
« on: 11 February 2009, 18:33:38 »

Hello All,
I was just wondering if anyone was interested in diecast models of Omega's? I produce modern police vehicles of all types in 1:43 scale, approx 12 cm long for an Omega. And was wondering if there was an interest in producing more normal Omega's so to speak. Am able to produce prefacelift and facelift models. The prefacelift one's would be far cheaper as a model made by schuco is allready made. So would only need to be painted in your colour with corret interior and rhd dash and correct numberplates. I aim to get all models as authentic as possible. So they'd have tax discs etc, your numberplate and any other distinctions of you car. Easier for policce vehicles as they have markings you can reproduce such as air codes and so on.
The facelift models would be more expensive. The body is handmade in the netherlands out of resin and costs about £35 just for the body.
I know this sounds like a sale pitch, so I do apologise for that. But would welcome any comments anyone has or queries etc. Sorry for the mini essay there lol, but thought would put as much info as possible.

1:43 scale omega models have already been readily available for a few years now, they are made by Schuco, I have 2, an estate in dark green and an Elite saloon in magic grey like one of my real cars.

german ebay is the place to look for them.

With regards to bigger scale models, the closest you can get to a 1/18 omega is the Autoart Holden Commodore, made in white and red.

Vauxfan you're quite right indeed. Prefacelift Omega's are on the market. What I'm offering is to produce a custom built to order one. The schuco one's come in a limited number of colours and 95% are the opel badged LHD version. So lets say if someone had a real dark red with beige interior Omega , they couldn't go and buy a model of one of those. The prefacelifts I expect most people could have a go at themselves. But the facelifts are cast from resin and not ever been seen on ebay before.

I'd be interested if an exact replica can be produced (Facelift MV6) and not too expensive. Be nice to have one with plates, alloy colour etc!!  :y

I collect old 60's/70's dinky/corgi/matchbox as childhood nostalgia that were built to be toys but i would be interested in a black mini facelift MV6 if you can replicate the wheels? 8-)

I'd prefer a 1/32 plastic model that I could modify for Scalextric use!

(97) Prefacelift saloon in ceramic blue (reflection only) with a black interior. Facelift CDX alloys if you can manage it. ;)

Thanks to all who have shown an interest. I'll get some pictures together, prices etc etc and any limitations there are on what I can do after a bit of research, concerning wheels and so on. I've only ever produced factory spec cars, not with extra wheels or aftermarket extra's...but shouldn't be a problem. I will get back to anyone who has shown an interest. I think wheels are the biggest problem really, as there are so many variations. But will see what I can do.

The wheels shouldn't be too much of a problem, but the MV6 bumper won't be as easy. The model is cast in resin, so not much I can do to change it, it's cast with the regular bumper, but I might be able to alter it to look like the MV6 one. I'll do some searching around for wheels and get back to you with what I can do.
