Ive had tiscali adsl for about 18 months now and not had a problem......until i asked for the 1meg package to be upgraded to 2meg a couple of months back.....the weeks passed and still at 1meg.....even phoning them resulted in someone going thro a script and when i say hang on a mo'.....im using a adsl router not the usb modem you supplied.....it all went pear shaped and not got anywhere further. I was told in the end that it must be the bt exchange as it all looked ok at their end.
Anyway yesterday i remembered that im paying for 2meg but only getting 1 meg....and didnt see why i should....so instead of phoning them, i emailed tech support and asked if i couldnt get 2 meg, then switch my package back to 1meg.....within hours i had a reply from tech support asking if i was willing to give them a bit more info before they switched it back. I mailed back ok what would you like to know.
It was quite a long list!!!
I ended mailing them details of my router and all its settings.....for them to check
My phone number.....so they could check the exchange i was on.
The results of 3 speed tests done at my end and send them the reference number so they could check at their end the results
I received another email from them saying they would look into what i had sent them but please leave my router turned on (I never turn it off anyway) and mail me again.
When i check my email this morning i had another email from the same guy....sent at 3am

Now this guy is obviously indian or pakastani by his name.....and either works late into the night or is in an office in india/pakastan! :-/ but well done that man!!

Email said router settings correct.....BT exchange im on should be able to do 2M but not anything faster.....said he made some changes at their end and reset my router and from his end it is now runnning faster and to check the router for connected speed now......and any probs to let him know.
So checking the router it now says downstream rate 2304Kbps Upspeed 288kbps

Think i'll be keeping this guys email address
