Agreed. I don't use text speak except in texts. I just don't see the difference between text speak & SWMBO, FFS, IMHO & so on.

That said, its a well known fact I often use OOF in the bath, and I have to type one handed then.

If text speak saved huge amounts it might just be acceptable .. but as far as I can see it usually saves about 2 letters per word...

m 8 - mate      2 letters
u - you  2 letters
txt - text 1 letter
2 - to/too  1 or 2 letters

so in the OP's opening post he saved 4 letters in approximately 100 ....

IMHO it is pure laziness and bad habits.
