Driving, what is your pet hate?
« on: 25 February 2009, 20:07:25 »

Just wondering what YOUR pet hate is, on the roads. Mine are, in rough order:

1) Drink Driving and Tailgaiting - not leaving enough distance or driving to conditions

2) Kids (especially small ones) jumping around the car, not secured.

3) Mobile phones / other handheld devices / map reading / makeup

4) People who drive un-necessarily slow on single carriage A roads

5) Foglights when not foggy

Today, on a 3 mile round trip to ASDA, I encountered:

1) Newish black Corsa pull up next to me at lights. youngish chap, visibly on the phone, seemed "unsettled" in his seat, moving around a lot, and not wearing a seatbelt.

2) Again, pulled up by me at lights. Older Toyota saloon, man in drivers seat, passenger seat empty. Rear seat - left hand side, sat a women. Right hand side, baby-seat, with items of shopping strapped to it.  Centre of rear seat - a young toddler, unsecured and bouncing around in the back, with parents seemingly not giving a hoot.

3) Just afterwards, another mobile phone / no belt

4) Half mile up the road, another phone

5) Nearing home - another seatbelt.

It's absolutely rife, here !

They park on your side of the road and don't switch off headlights - impossible to see whether vehicle door is open or not

Lack of indicators, people who can't go over 40 on an A road, incorrect light usage.

Those that come along side you on a dual carriageway or motorway, then match your speed and block you in behind the car you were about to overtake!  :-?

It's a dual carriageway so so they sit in the out side lane and do just under the limit!  >:(

Slow down to 25 mph to go through speed cameras no matter what the limit is!

35 mph everywhere .... no matter what the limit is! >:(

Halfwits who think lights at dawn/dusk are just to see where they're going .... not to be seen with.

I was flashed at the other day by the car I'd just overtaken when in my Astra. I can only guess that it was my temerity for overtaking him/her in my diseasal shed.  :-/  :-/  ;D  ;D

I suppose it could also have been for being right up his chuff while I wound the car up looking for the chance to get passed - he/she was only doing 35 in the 60

I do that...

... to people who
sit in the right hand lane for 10 miles and dont keep left when there is f*ck all in the middle and left lane.

2, dont mind phones as such, its when the driving suffers as a result that gets my goat.

3, fog lights when not foggy.

4 fastest mover, not observing lanes on motorway slip roads. ie 45 to 50 when entering from left lane on slip road, straight to right lane on motorway via cross hatching probably still doing 50.

5 tail gateing.

It's 4 lanes on the M62 going east near me. You get middle lane hoggers who just move over to lane 3 to go up the hill ....  :-/  :-/  :-/ thing is, they don't seem to alter speed and sit at around 65. I've had loads of funny (not ha-ha) as I've sailed passed in lane 1!  ;)

Whilst in me truck.....people who drive at 52/54 mph in inside lane on m/way and when you go to overtake them they speed up  >:( >:( >:( they then slow down again after 100 mtrs or so and you come up them again and do the same again .That really peeves me off big style

Here is how to upset people.

1) Overtake them in a 18 year old car going faster than theirs is capable of (up hill)

2) Overtake them while towing. This really annoys quite a few MLOCs who don't want to go faster but don't want to overtake.

3) Deal with hot Metro with a Sunbeam while towing a box trailer (moving into first house).

4) Not slowing on hills when with caravan so shit box can get past.

No joke this

Telegraph hill Devon, Blue 2.0 CD and van - I overtook an overloaded Diseasel people carrier on the hill, then went up to cruising speed - shitbox MPV crawls past. SBMPV slows down, I pass, SBMPV overtakes. This went on all the way to Newton Abbot - it ended up with SBMPV struggling up to 80 just to not have me catch up again, every time I passed him he looked like he was going to have a stroke ;D
