This is what ebay have just e-mailed to me as I complained thay pulled my auction without contacting me first.
Thank you for contacting us regarding removal of your XXXXXXXXXXX. I understand your frustration
that we removed your listing without speaking to you first.
While I agree it would be courteous to speak with you before removing a
listing, due to the short time listings are on the site, varying time
zones of eBay sellers, and competing demands on eBay staff, it's simply
not possible for us to contact every seller any time we need to take an
action on their account.
Therefore, although it's regrettable, we don't contact sellers before we
remove their listings. Please rest assured that we always try to make
the best decision possible based on the information available to us at
the time.
Furthermore, please be informed that you will be charged nominal listing
fees if you are listing your item again on eBay. However, we have
already credited the fees for the item which was ended by eBay.
Additionally, I understand your concerns about similar listings on the
site. Please rest assured that the same rules are applied to all
members. If a listing breaches our policies, we remove it from the site.
However, taking into account the sheer volume of listings on eBay -
unfortunately we aren't made aware of every breach of our policies.
Also, we rely on reports from our members to bring such listings to our
attention. So, please report any such items to us using the "Report this
item" link at the bottom of the item page, or by clicking "Contact Us"
on any eBay Help page. If a reported listing breaches our policies we'll
remove it from the site.
Moreover, for your future reference, I'd like to inform you that your
listing was removed as it was in breach of our Inappropriate Seller
Terms policy due to the statement 'advertised elsewhere' being mentioned
by you in your listing. We exempt the listings which are listed in the
non-binding bids categories of cars, motorcycles, aircraft, boats,
caravans, trailers, trucks (commercials), services and property.
It is a violation if the following statements are included in the item
description :
-that they have the right to cancel their listing at any time, for any
reason.
-that their listed item is also for sale simultaneously off eBay (e.g.
local market),
-that the item was in stock at the time of listing but that it may be
out of stock at the time of purchase
-that the item listed may not necessarily be the one that the winning
bidder receives upon auction completion.
eBay's main objective is to enable people to trade. Therefore, if you
list any item then you are bound to sell the item and you do not have to
withdraw the item if sold.
