Dell, daylight robbery
« on: 26 February 2009, 22:02:54 »

I bought a PC of Dell nearly a year ago on 12 month interest free agreement and i've just called to pay it off before I get charge interest and the thieving barstewards want a £49 Early Payment Fee. I will never buy from them again >:(

 :o :o

Cheeky barstewards. Mind you, how much extra would the interest be if you just left it on regular payments?

I agree though, if they offer an interest free payment period then charging an early payment fee is a bit of a cheek.

29.5% which isn't an option :o

If i'd have know I would have paid with my credit card which does have a genuine interest free period not that im tight or anything but you should take advantage of the offers ::)

the trick is you don't pay the whole lot off
you leave about £40 or £50 then give it till your first payment is due and then pay whats left as your first payment to clear it

they can only then charge you interest on the outstanding balance which will be £40 or £50
so you will probly only pay a few quid interst and no early settlement

Welcome to Credit Crunch Britain - robbing mothers!
I took the plunge and bought a Mac direct from their Applestore. Absolutely top-notch service, no problems whatsoever, and very happy with it. Finding it much faster all-round than a PC. Highly recommended.

You'll probably find that the early repayment fee is invoked as soon as you pay more than the agreed installments. Have a look what the small print says. :-/

Why dont you pay all but 10p on the balance.  At 29% APR you're first payment would be around 13p  :y

and i used to get more commision if i sold finace so i used to tell all the people that wanted to pay cash to have the buy now pay later and its a loop hole in the finace to not pay the whole lot off leave a small amount it will then get paid off on the first instalment :y

don't quite work that way ;D

you have to leave about the amount of your instalments or a little bit less so its cleared on the first payment
the only interst you get is of what balance is remaining
