NOT a good Day
« on: 23 January 2007, 15:16:49 »

Just announced 25% redundancies where i work. Thankfully not affecting me or my staff. But all the same some close collegues and friends are in for a hard few months.

Business critical need so no issues with the company - essentially its the non add value areas that are being shed.

First time i have been involved with this - as a manager i am involved in consultation with and for other areas that are affected.

Ive actually not had time till now to post today - not even a lunch break!

Now got the rag trade gutter tabloid press outside trying to question staff  - dont you hate the tabloids .... >:(

oooooh and my wife, who is off sick with a slipped disc due to too much horseplay ::) ( as in horse riding) advises me our new bed is delivered.

Wrongly - a king size matress and single bed base. So a few ranting calls there to try and sort that out.

Threatened to take the wife to a 5 star hotel if they didnt sort this today, at their expense.

Turns out there despatching another from Doncaster and it will be with me by 8pm.

And then we talk about compensation  :y

Working where I work....redundancies in the last 5 years are all to common.....

I have done so many assesments, sickness evaluations, service calcs etc I even put together my own spreadsheet with a bit of VB to make it easier....

No pleasent and no matter how careful you are, you still end up keeping rubbish and loosing talent.

We lost 70% of the work force all in!
