mk3 astra interior light problem

Was working on a friends mk3 astra today N reg. interior light does not work at all, with the switch or by the doors opening, have checked bulbs, fuses etc, nothing amiss, is there a relay to control this? found a blue one in the fusebox but didnt have a spare one of these.

Unlikely to be a relay involved. Do you have a 12V supply, it does seem strange that it won't work on either doors or the switch?

without knowing which fuse socket to check I cant check for a supply. the pictures on the fusebox cover dont have a symbol for the interior light, so I just checked every single one.

I was thinking multi-meter at the lamp.  ;)  :y

tried that, nothing. I even tried a known working interior light beofre the meter.

being the LS model it only has the 2 wires, so cant really get it wrong.

we dont have a haynes for it, he only got the car last week, my haynes for the cav and omega were no help

but then not much in that book of lies is much help..

nah not ex plod, wrong colour, its metallic gold. I noticed when I changed the heater resistor unit that one of the wires was burnt out, altho the new unit works ok so maybe unrelated.

I know where my coat is...

Do any Vauxhalls have an on/off switch on the lamp? Vauxhall have used a pull / push on the main light switch for a looong time. (late 70's Cavaliers/Asconas/Mantas/Monzas/etc used it)

if its a Pully Outy Interior light switch like the miggy's then it isnt uncommon for the interior switch to fail ive had 1 go on the Omega simple fix

have you tried using your omegas light switch in the ashtray?
