Wii
« on: 01 March 2009, 18:49:31 »

I know somebody here will be able to answer this ;) I just hope i can understand the answer  ::)

My sister-in-law bought a Wii Fit game for their Wii. She tried to play it, but got as far as putting the disc in, but it wouldn't then read disc. Needless to say, that when she took it back, it played in their machine & they explained that the game wasn't compatible with her machine. One was 3? and t'other was 4? "but it's possible to upgrade the machine online"  :-/  :-/  :-/
As her Wii isn't actually on line, is there a way of upgrading the software of her machine to suit without going online?

Afraid not, all it needs is a wireless connection and takes a few minutes to do

never heard of Wii compatibility issues  :-/

I am assuming Wii console needs a firmware update, so that the console undertands the Wii Fit.

take the Wii someware with Wifi internet and get it updated :)

Yup. Bugger to enter the wifi key on it though, esp if you have a random 63 hex number like mine!

nice and easy to set it up to the WiFi, its in the the options someware, just browse and select the network. Long keys are a pain though.

Seam to remember ours did a big update after we got it.

just had similar issues with my PS3 (Software Updates)

Sony have ISO images that you can download for the PS3 so i would assume Nintendo offer something similar???

I have found the PS3 to be very good for things like this - like they sat down and thought what people want.

I find the Wii very difficult to set up as I can't hold the controller still enough when doing text (hadn't tried gamepad at that stage). I wonder if the USB KB would work?

One boy does Mario Carts with a game pad as he finds it easier

One thing I will say is that if you have a problem Nintendo will swap over the flash memory contents but the Wii does appear to be pretty reliable
