Oh dear this means more SLOW moving traffic on A & B roads, because the majority won't pull over & let folk go by >:( >:( >:( >:(

Unless they are members here - then they are going quite fast anyway!
Hmmm, I've seen a few Omegas being driven embarrassingly slowly pulling mobile bonfires.  No idea if they are members here though...

Certainly not me... Last summer I got fed up with a boy racer "giving it large" to his mates and embarrassed him by beating him away from the lights and then the next 2 roundabouts, complete with the Pikey Palace ;D ;D ;D ;D

Needless to say he didn't try again! ::) ::) ::)

Must have cost you a fortune in crockery though - or do you use plastic?  ;)

I once outdragged someone off the lights with an 8 metre long glider trailer (containing a glider) behind me. Happy he wasn't but it served him right for carving me up.

Kevin

Nope... Proper crockery but stowed correctly so as not to move :y :y :y

Must confess the roundabouts were due to carrying some speed in, whereas Mr Boy Racer didn't have a clue ::) ::) ::)

The Mig just tows so effortlessly! ;) ;) ;)

Interested to see the reasoning behind that comment... I'll be willing to bet the carbon footprint of a holiday taken in a car/caravan combo is considerably smaller than a flight and all associated things :-? :-? :-?

Just a pound mind ;) ;) ;)

Not comparing like with like ;)

I'll bet a left bollock that your buger van will be more environmentally unfriendly (not just you, but all the other poor souls behind you) than if you had an ounce of intelligence and took proper camping equipment, starting with a tent.

You'll be sorry for that comment when you need somewhere to solder in comfort ;) ;)

Oh... And I couldn't get all I needed in the car (because someone put a 90L LPG tamk in there ::) ::)) for 2 weeks away so I'd have a trailer anyway ::) ::) ::)

Ok, so you and the Mrs take the burger van to the lakes, and me and a mate go in my car with a tent in the back...

I would easily get 30mpg, same car pulling a van? 11-15mpg.

So just getting there you pump out twice the polution, not forgetting the 500 cars behind you all doing un economical speeds on winding A roads.

You still plug into power at a campsite using Microwaves, cookers, heaters, lights, fans, all the features a hotel room has.

You mention flights, you do know the new biggest jet in the world the Airbus A380 uses less fuel per passenger than a Ford Focus?

So is more environmently friendly to fly to say the south of France, than drive, dragging a burger van.  ;)

And if it wasn't down to the car towing a caravan then all the cars that do 70 80 90 even 100mph+ use more fuel, more of a carbon footprint and cause death by dangerous driving therefore causing more people to die on the roads due to irrisponsible motorist that like to drive like pillocks on the road. So for the pikey wagon/burger van,as you call them, is helping to cut speeder's.

Advantage pikey wagon owners......... ;D ;D ;D

Speed doesn't kill (despite what the government and their brainwashed enforcers may say).  Speed differential is what kills.

And for info, my tractor has DOUBLE the economy at 80mph than it has at 40mph.

So, on the contrary, advantage to normal people

Discussing carbon footprints and perpetuating the old "speed kills" myth (its rapid decelleration that usually does it) has OOF been infected with PC disease? plesae ,no... :'( ::) ;)

You're right there TB, it's not the speed that kills, it's the stopping suddenly that does :P

and the carbon footprint for building said A380 ??? Very very much greater than for building my "tin-tent"

If you are going to compare correctly, you must take ALL factors into account, not just those that suit your purpose .. :)
