Been asked by a mate what sort of price he would be looking at for a new fuel pump for his T reg 2.0 Diesel Vectra. Anyone got any ideas.

The car is starved of fuel so he had the AA out to check it over and he said the fuel pump is knackered. Anyone had any experience with them.

Thought I would ask you lot as your all up on your vauxhalls :D

Very very common problem with 2.0/2.2DTi engines about £1400 for a pump + fitting

 btw the car is worth about £350 with a bust pump i can put you in touch with an aquaintance of myn that buys them (Broken) i sold him a neighbours DTi W reg for £350

it costs more than the cars worth to fix in a nutshell

Is it worth changing the fuel filter first before condeming the pump? Diesel pump failure is usually write off time for a car thats more than 5 years old. :(

If it is the pump you could try someone like this:-

Hes received a quote for £500 to supply and fit a new one, but by the sound of things it would be cheaper to buya new car  ::)

£500 is cheap for pump replacement!!!!!!! we were quoted £900 alone for a refurb pump

its a very very common problem with them that the pump fails

sorry off topic, but do the 3.0V6 VeccyC oil burners have the same issue?

i believe the later Vectra C's with CDTi engines dont suffer from pump failure

Personally i`d go out and buy a newish veccy theres loads of decent uns out there rather than try to fix T-reg...... ;D

i was looking at VeccyC 3.0 V6 CDTi's - It seams if i want to stay Vx, VeccyC it is after the Omega.

Mondeo is too bland of the same age, BMW's cost too much to run, Mercs don't appeal..

Might have to be a VeccyC 3.2 V6 or 3.0 CDTi

Definately would not agree with the latter statement!

Dont get any real issues wth the Veccy C and would have sold better if it had not been called a Vectra!

Don't help when it's spinning driving the front wheels!

Nice little project to install it into a more deserving RWD chassis though  :D

i meant a focus to replace the vectra B

Alfa Romeo use the GM 3.0 V6 Diesel in there 159 JTD thing! and they go very very well!!!

Vectra C is nice they handle very well  i like the look of the facelifted ones but not the pre face ones
