What a great drive
« on: 15 March 2009, 20:28:13 »

I must say after many years of driving, mainly fords which have been very good and reliable,i've just recently purchased my first vauxhall, which is a 2.5 v6 omega cd on a 1999 plate. What can i say, what a great car to drive(smooth, responsive, comfortable and what i can gather so far, very solid and well built),i think i've even converted my dad(And That's Hard)Overall a bit juicy, but ha ho!!!what the hell,i'd rather pay a little more for the benefits it return's(A Very Happy Boy). ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :y

Congrats on your new purchase, but do you know when the cambelt  and tensioners were done ?. This is of critical importance, if the belt breaks the pistons come up and meet the valves which is not nice. I think the interval is 40K miles.  However OOF has produced several DVD's on changing these and its not difficult.

Miggy's are smooth  :y

Cheers guys :y About the cam belt change, the car came with piles of receipts for services and general works over the years,i've scanned through all of them, but no mention of cambelt change either on service sheets or the other receipts in the pile. The car has 90k on the clock and i have noticed a label under the bonnet of when the cam belt was changed, and that was at 40k.

Would a good mechanic now if it needs changing visually,as i have a long trip to carry out in april + its an auto, and would that make a cam belt change to be made now. :y :y :y

belt life is 40 thousand miles or 4 years.

Your belt is 10 thousand miles over due according to the sticker.
