0% APR / 6 Months Payment Free
« on: 18 March 2009, 17:44:50 »

Anyone know of any loans like this out there? I want a Yamaha MT-03 and they go for about 3k, i have almost 2k allocated for some summer fun.

Not sure dealers would do such deals on second hand bikes, thinking more about a separate loan. I'll most likely pay it off completely in a few months, but i really like that bike!  :)

Get something cheaper, restricting it if necessary. Chances are, you will drop it, so anything over £1k is probably too much to spend.  Thats why the likes of ER-5 are great to start on. Dirt cheap.

But a lot less expensive when you drop it.  Go cheap now, upgrade when you have better biking skills :y

Oh, and remember you are used to training school bikes, which always feel abused (though no problem buying one, but you have to give it tlc to start with)

Is that the ones dispatch riders use?  Avoid ex-dispatch bikes, they will be tired.

600 Bandit (Suzuki) detuned Gixer engine so tough as old boots, cheap to buy & insure. Bit heavy & softly spung but a good, fun reliable starter bike, fair turn of speed if you wind 'em, docile at low revs. Pick one up finance free for a few hundred, build up some no claims etc. Not as cool or fast as the 1200 or many sportbikes but faster, better & way cooler than the ER5.
Worth a look & you can de restrict if need be. Doubt you'll get a better cheap ins. solid starter bike for the money. Guy. :y

Divvy is a good starters bike...as said avoid the despatched bikes.

Bandit also good....best bet is sit on a few as they will feel and ride differently.

Just the same as cars will feel different when driven.

There are credit cards available which give you 6/9 months interest free on purchases. Obviously you must pay it off before the end of the intoductory period to avoid paying any interest.
I use them whenever I can for big purchases and earn interest on the money which stays in my account for 6/9 months. Not quite as attractive with current low interest rates but I've borrowed money from credit card companies many times and had them in effect pay me for the privilege. I've never paid a penny in interest to any of them.
Requires rigid discipline, though.

I have a full license, no need to restrict!  :)

Bandits seam about the same price as ER5's on bike trader.
