Engine Management light on a Tigra
« on: 28 January 2007, 12:44:31 »

No not mine -  a neighbours  ;D

Wife says the guy accross the road has been running back and forth all week in his tigra and even to the wife it sounds really really rough.

This morning he came over and asked me if i knew anything about vauxhalls ( as i was under the bonnet of one) he seemed confused when i said no i knew nothing :P

Anyway from the rough running his tigra is now not starting at all - all the lights etc come on but the emgine managemet light comes on and it does not turn over at all never mind start. Its not at his house so i cant see it ( left at work)

Any obvious pointers ( apart from tech 2) does the paper clip test work on a 1995 tigra?

Anyone got one that can suggest what it may be - ie any known issues....?

I would imagine so, they all use the same range of ECUs..

Check out www.topbuzz.co.uk for compatibility...

Ask him when he last had the cambelt and tensioner changed?  :-X

On Vauxhalls, crank sensor usually stops it running...

so it will limp home....i thought it would continue to be in limp mode....i guess it goes into broken mode (very bad limp) when ignition switched off from limp... ;D

No it probably wouldn't have limped.  If it is something like Cam sensor, it may take a lot of cranking to get it to fire....
