expensive rail travel
« on: 22 March 2009, 10:50:57 »

So my son and his mate who are both 16 are going to see Oasis at wembley in july, and looking at the rail tickets it will be about 50 quid return from Stevenage. I looked at getting a 16-25 rail car but that is 25 quid, so it ends up costing the same...
any ideas how to get it cheaper?

know that feeling - mines £3500 a year and thats going up yet again by 6% >:(.   worse than than that I commute a lot at weekends and end up going by road due to poxy engineering works >:(  Might as well by a coach ticket :-/

Rail travel is not in my eyes a competitive form, but working in London makes it expensive for motoring.

I do agree though best to go for singles

Sadly with my work, London is only the really option. Its too far to bike every day, at least i get a reliable service.

singles as opposed to return? surely that would cost more?
is there a day ticket they could buy or something?
