Tyre Technology
« on: 24 March 2009, 11:58:00 »

On my recent thread on tyres ,Marks DTM humourously referred to my beautiful, sexy treaded budget tyre (£50each)as a WANLI DITCHFINDER....How dare he. ;D ;D ;D ;D

This made me think. With tyre technology forever moving forward, how would a modern budget tyre of today, stack up against the premium brands of ten or twenty years ago ,in objective testing. :-? :-?

Any ideas?. :-* :-*

Reckon that is a possibility, must admit i'm no racing driver (anymore) but have 4 on my 3.0 elite est and there fine apart from that they are noisey or I think they are compared to the tyres on my other mig which are also budget tyres Maxxis on rear & Nankang on fr :y

I think most of it depends on the kind of driver you are. I have cheap 'ditchfinders' on the front and have reasonably expensive michelins on the rear. but as a reasonably slow driver who does very limited mileage, I have never seen the need for expensive tyres.

Safe tyres, yes of course. And I do notice that high performance cars presumably with expensive tyres are seriously comprimised in the wet. Whereas my 'ditchfinders' just carry on come rain or shine.
