I thought I'd noticed an awful lot of govt. ads
« on: 29 March 2009, 23:33:08 »

I just read an article that states we are bombarded with more than 10,000 government advertisements every day. Yes, 10,000 a day!  :o :o

Just think of the money that is waiting to be saved when this crowd are sent packing at the next election.

I really dont think it matters whos in or out.

Its like 'Yes Minister'.  The permanent ministers advise those elected into post and it is the permanents who are the puppeteers whilst the elected drivel are the puppets...

But then people complain when they are not informed, hence the recent assault on the Tax office and a significant number of rebates in tax because people were not aware they could claim in the first place. :)

There is a fine line between 'keeping people infrormed' and trying to brainwash them. In your case this not important. you need a brain before you can be brainwashed. :P :P ;D

Not wishing to doubt the source of the information, but 10,000 adverts per day seems just an unbelievable figure, and I would love a complete break-down of how this figure is arrived at. ::) ::)

Now I am no mathematician, but if it is adverts on the television, at the cinema, or online, say at 30 seconds per advert, then that is an incredible 300,000 seconds or 5,000 minutes, or 83.33 recurring hours per day of advertising!! :o :o :o :o

No doubt adverts will also be on hoardings, in the newspapers and magazines, but 10,000 per day is still an almost unbelievable figure!! :o :o :o

Saw a DVLA advert on Ebay today saying I should change my paper driving licence for a photo licence. Now, I got a photo licence when I moved 4.5 years ago but why, exactly do we need to fund adverts to persuade people to ditch a perfectly valid paper licence that doesn't need to be renewed every 10 years for a photo one that does?  >:(
