Hello all.
Some of you may have noticed that I've only recently joined up to the OOF.
I've always liked the Omega, probably as it reminds me of old school, engine North South, and Rear wheel drive.
Anyhow about x4 wks ago, I finally took the plunge and got myself what I thought was at the time an ideal car.
A Facelift CD Auto model, full service history, very clean and tidy car which I thought I could see myself owning for some time.

.
When I got it, I had to get my friend to drive it back to my place, and then again to the company that converts cars for disabled drivers, as I have a leg disability. Had to get it converted for my use - Hand controls & the pedals converted to flip up for when I'm driving at a cost of £720 before I could even use the thing ! :-?.
And before I bought it there was nothing wrong, as my mate and I checked over everything as I was paranoid with it having so many toys on it. And the couple of journeys that my mate used it for to make sure all was definitely okay, there was nothing untoward.
And now I feel my bubbles burst

.
So far in the x2 wks of actually driving the thing myself, which started off excitedly with plans for it, I'm now beginning to think that its a piece of **** engineering

.
1. Key remote started to decide when it wanted to work (wasn't battery).
2. Had to get a replacement key and remote fob and reprogramming, as immobiliser started acting up.
3. The electronic air con I think is on its way out.
4. Had an electronic fault (dash warning light) within two days that I started to drive it - Though hoping that's fixed now.
5. Found out that the steering drop arm now needs replacing.
6. The brake discs have become warped (I'm not excessive with them).
7. Ohh... and today, been told there's a broken rear spring.
8. this line is for the next thing that's going to go wrong !!!!.
I know that there's going to be one or two thing that need doing when you get a new set of wheels, but honestly, this has to be the worst (and most expensive) car I've ever had in a short space of time, and beginning to wonder if I've got a dud one after all ?.
I did have a rare automatic Astravan that I customised before getting the Omega, had that for 4yrs, and not once did any light ever light up on the dash for anything (yes it was plugged in for any smart****s out there ?!), and never a breakdown in all that time, rain, snow, short or extreemmmmly long journeys.
Wish I'd not got rid of it now

.
But the Omega, well I'm not confident going up to 50 miles in one journey, let alone a 300 mile one (which supposed to be doing over this easter !).
Am I being over negative, or does anyone think there maybe a light at the end of the tunnel ?.
I've even considered getting rid of my facelift, and getting a preface lift Omega - base model, something with no electronic air con (how nice it would be to have dials instead !), and something like a GLS, or police spec one, otherwise known as a no frills one.
No luxuries, but more of a simple no messing, solid car. And then get all the disabled drivers stuff swapped over.
To be honest, because how I feel at the moment, I know someone with a V6 3.0L converted Vectra, which has been reported as being sound and extremely reliable. And I'm seriously thinking of ditching the Omega, and going for the Vectra
Anyone else out there in OOF land that has gone through what I'm going through at the moment, and if so, what kept you from getting rid of.
Well that's me done, and got my piece out of the way.
Sorry chaps, and ladies, but really had enough of my car at the mo.
So how's your day been then !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-?
M
