A car is only as good as its last owner.

And that is true of any car.

Suspension and braking components are wear and tear items, they will fail and with the pot holed roads today they go more often sadly.

Too true, I always expect to spend alot of money on a new car getting it to my standards. Both my previous Omegas had new wishbones, steering idler, drop links, cambelt and tensioners, complete fluids change, water pump and breathers cleaned within a few weeks of buying it. That way I know its right and will serve me well and for many years or until I sell it ::)

Ive spent 500 quid on my mv6 as from 2 months ago when i bought it.

Its all just down to maintanance and whats expected in a 8 year old car to get it mint.

Its worth getting your bits done , try emailing a few members on here, im sure they can help you.

If you PM Loo-Knee on here they will be happy to help depending on how far you want to drive for repairs.

They did cracking jobs on mine and a mates!  ;)

This thread just goes to show the spirit of this forum.
Smegmat - None of the stuff you listed is that serious, there are folks on here who can help you source the parts, and quite a few of us have Vx trade cards so getting genuine parts cheap shouldn't be a problem.
The car is worth it mate.  Keep her. :)

I bought mine in December 08 and have spent nearly 600 getting it back in order and still needs work.

work already done
Replaced Rad
Replaced Cam Gasket covers
All breathers replaced
Cambelt kit replaced

Work needs to be done
New wishbones required
Headlight & taillight needs replacement
Body work isn't great- so if I end up replacing that It will not be worth it..

Cars are a whole in the ground in which you throw good money after bad.

However, having said that once you've got those bits fixed I'm sure it will calm down.  Chin up.  For the money they are excellent value in comparison.  Just weather it for a short while and you'll be smiling.  [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif]

Hello All.

Just wanted to thank everyone who gave me support in my depressing thread  :-?.

It was appreciated to know that there are people out there that took the time to type out something, no matter whether it was short or long.

I'm trying to think positively - honest !  :) .

I've gotten the Spanner through the car icon on the dash sorted out, turns out that some of the recirculating pipes from the rocker cover to the throttle housing were starting to get blocked, so I'm assuming that possible an air or exhaust sensor was being thrown out as the mixture was wrong.

The key thing, well had to get one from the dealers, yes I know what you're all going to say !!!!. Its a long story why I did, and it wasn't that expensive for the blip (remote), not as expensive as you think, I did have a look on ebay, but they've gone expensive on there for that kind of item, even on ebay people are paying near enough dealer prices, think I'm joking take a look yourself !  :o.  Least I have 12mths warranty on it though, whereas on ebay you don't.

Can't see any breaks in the rear spring as I was told by the dealer, and a friends friend who owns a garage / repair workshop is going to double check for me soon, though I've ordered a -40mm spring kit for it, as it needs doing pronto, as I'm supposed to be off for an easter break soon - no pressure there then  ;D .

As for the electronic air con, I'm still not sure about that, I may put a thread on to see if anyone as converted to a simple dial set-up, as per Mk3/4 Astra / corsa, etc ?.

Just got a quote for Vented and cross drilled brake discs (£112) pair. Not sure if that's dear yet, as haven't looked else where, but they feel they will need doing sometime.

Anyhow, enough of me at the moment.
Just wanted to express my gratitude to those that did reply. And all I can say is watch this space, as in a month or two I maybe still here with the Omega, or may have scattered all of the Omega parts (chainsawed  >:(  ) across the garden as a sort of art-deco thing !!!!!   :o  :o  We'll have to see.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully things will pick up with the car.

Your a fine bunch   :y  :y

Look at you All,  looking all modest  ::)  ::)  ::) !!!!!!!!!!.
