Had a Hotpoint for like 15yrs plus never a prob bought aBosch super quiet mega bucks top o' rsnge job rather had to bin it recently has 2 major parts failed on it  costing more than another d/washer, anyway ended up buying one of these wife thinks its brill better than ze Bosch model

Mrs Bitz has a stainless siemens which is pretty good ,so Im told,havent tried washing any engine parts in it yet so cant comment.

  Not I!......I`m a Bosch girl; I recently bought their cheapest full-size D.W for under £200 at Tesco.
It washes very well but the drying performance is marginal.....but still, much better than hand washing!

Bosch dishwashers are made by Hotpoint!

Maybe so Mark but the parts arnt interchangeable, Bosch sell like 100's different motors /circuit boards etc plus they are all more expensive maybe we were unlucky with ze Bosch but replacement parts prices were way over the top !! So made in Germany not brill!!
I know now thanks to  tony (Sir moanalot) bosch have a different slightly complicated sytem to stop water flow when its a problem and have a self contained base so no leaking all over the floor, (I did take it apart to see if it was easily fixed) but hotpoint is built into the hose connection somehow

Dunno why thought Hotpoint / Ariston were  bed mates not Bosch

I now have a problem as in the wall boiler had to installed above the location where the DW is going, not sure if the pipes will get in the way of the back of it.

Plumbers and kitchen installer along with the builders etc were all aware of my kitchen plan and have installed the plumbing for the DW under the boiler, no one has said a word unstill the kitchen supplier himself turned up on tuesday and said the built in one that I was planning may not fit as they only supply one make as either full size or compact.

I tought things were going too well.

Watch this space, as I am in a foul mood had some bugga is gonna get the brunt of it within the next 2 hour.  :-/

Well what an entertaining afternoon, full of, it wasnt me, or, we just just the pipe work in.   Well you decide, as we cant do anymore till you tell us what to do.

So I asked for 2 options and said I would pick one of them, then extra costing got mentioned.

The headache then went, as I also did and left them working it out.


The simple soloution is to add a hoidioter feed to where the dishwasher was going and then swap the washer and DW arround and problem solved.  The fun bit is wathing them blame each other as the cost id fixed because it was agreed, and I aint paying a penny more.

Black seems to be the in thing at the mements, but I cant justify the price as much as I lov it.

But there may be a chance I have to go for a slimline, but these aint much cheaper than the Black one.

Just used argos as a basic price search as I was looking at there catalogue yesterday.

Any advice on long term running/service costs and reliabilty of any brands would be appreciated.

I believe that only the slimline bosch models are made in germany, the rest are in poland. I have a hotpoint slimline dishwasher and for some reason if i use tablets it overfoams(the engineer says it is due to the hard water area we live in) so i need to stick to powder. I think if you go to john lewis they usually offer a 5 year gaurantee on some models.  If you are looking at spending 3-400 then i would go for a siemens. Also factor in cost of delivery and connection / disposal of old appliances as once you factor these in a local independent offering these services for free usually ends up cheaper.

I was in this trade for years. If on a budget AEG or BOSCH. If you have a bit more cash it Siemens or NEFF. If you want the best it has to be miele, these machines come with a five year manufacturer warranty (parts and labour) and are designed to run for 20 years but will probably last much longer.This their entry machine that comes with a 5 year warranty http://www.miele.co.uk/products/Features.aspx?pid=622. The best price I could find was £517 delivered (http://www.dixons.co.uk/product.php?sku=938578&camp_id=Shopping.com) They are not cheap, but they really are the best, you only have to carry one up a set of stairs to realise this (breating can be a porblem under this much weight)

Alternatively Live on takeaway no cooking, no washing up, the best option I think
