Netwrok cable question...
« on: 02 April 2009, 16:47:39 »

In a network cable, there are 8 cables which can be identified by their colours...

I've always said 'White Orange' if the cable is white and orange... Someone else I know always says 'Orange White' and it confuses the hell out of me!  ;D

For example I would say 'White Orange, Orange' and he would say 'Orange White, Orange'  >:(

So, who’s right! ::)

I've always worked it on the trace colour is the second colour so an orange wire with a white trace is Orange/White

As above, primary colour is the first bit, trace is second.

Orange/White would be the orange with the white trace. Note not all cables have the white trace on the primary, but in telephony/data its still normal to say orange/white.

To think you and I have got it wrong all these years...   ...and I know I'm trained in it, and I suspect you are to (not that the colour scheme needs training on!).

He knows hes wrong, but he wont admit it! ;D
