Bl**dy PVRs!
« on: 07 April 2009, 18:33:19 »

I am annoyed - they have failed again, all three keep forgetting to record and there is no HD repeat of Heroes!

Luckily we have TV replay for some programmes (BBC Iplayer ITV C4 C5 equivalents on BT Vision)

And Heroes - having to obtain that >:(

Because you use crap, that why.

Needless to say, mine never misses anything unless schedules change at last minute.

oh, it will.  But I concede Sky+ is better than many of the cheap PVRs, certainly when its new. (Sky boxes seem to suffer from fragmentation, no matter what your maintenence settings, and poor reliability from the HDD)

Mine occasionally forgets to record, usually means it needs rebooting.

seems all the 3 common makes have build issues with the board, but the HDD is a seperate issue (probably not helped by Sky's lack of proper standby - improved recently, but not cured)

Mine never, ever forgets, always works spot on.  Can't remember last reboot I did, though Windows Update reboots it every 2 or 3 months.

Had complaints from the cheaper seats about it not doing a series record last week. Wonder if doing an upgrade from MCE to VMC caused some problem?

you should know better - never upgrade an OS (that includes putting sp2 on xp, seeing as that is pretty much a new os in itself. Rebuild!

XP MCE i had a weekley reboot. Vista'd since Home Premium became available, have the odd interface crash that needs an End Task every few months, otherwise rock solid

Oh, not filled with those pointless, and gay, "my knob is bigger than yours because I include 200 codecs" codec packs.  ffdshow covers all bases...

Yup but I was feeling idle so it just got an upgrade.
It needs a good tidying up so might get flattened when I get around to it.
