Is it possible to link a laptop into an older TV that doesn't have the PC connector, in through S Video maybe? do i need anything else to make it work?

Agreed, I recently tried an s-video cable and the picture quality was rubbish looks like your watching tv from the 80's ;D

If no VGA/DVI/HDMI on back of telly, you're struggling.

If its an ATI card, you can make simple VGA to SCART adapter, but you need to run a piece of software that provides the required timing for a telly. Messy.

thanks guys, idea abandoned, wont mention which popular auction site the s video lead was advertised on.

will treat myself to a nice 42" LCD TV from my redundancy money later this year  :y ;D
