Tesco Nanny overkill
« on: 09 April 2009, 20:49:37 »

Just got back from getting a few Easter eggs for my niece and I saw a Baileys easter egg that my sister would appreciate.
At the self-service checkout it came up as "Authorisation required" :o
I reckon I'd be sick before I could eat enough of them to have any intoxicating effect

They're just trying to protect their license, £1000 fine for each underage or purchased for underage and more that 3 fines in a year is the end of their license. Even the liquer chocs at Xmas have age verification.

And I would add that you never did, and still do not, require a liqueur license in the confectionery retail trade to sell liqueur chocolates, as the law identifies that they do not contain enough alcohol to worry anyone! ::) ::)

Therefore, technically you can sell liqueur chocolates to anyone without restriction, although they should be 16+. ::) ::)
