One bent Corsa, one very lucky young lad
« on: 08 April 2009, 22:42:28 »

Coming into our village I came round a bend and suddenly found myself avoiding bits of wood all over  the road, glance to the left missing fence and a little further a Corsa on its side and a young lad wandering about.

It’s a regular accident spot at we have a couple of long sweeping curves with the wrong camber on them, been some showers so surface very greasy.

Stopped the car and went over the field to meet the young lad, walking ok, only blood was from the side of his head, I took a quick look, nothing obviously serious however Police and Ambulance Called, as I was doing that he rang his Mum  ‘Mum, I have eh well crashed the car big time, I am OK and Kris’s  step Dad has stopped.  We chatted, I thought I recognised him, he only lives a couple of hundred yards away.

Two passing Paramedics on their way to work stopped then the Ambulance and Mum arrived, Police took well over 20 minutes, sent a traffic car, no local units turned up.
He only passed his test in February, was a 56 Reg Corsa, his Mums and he was driving on her insurance. Purely down to too much speed, inexperience and lack of understanding of changing features of the road surface. Mind if I have been going a little faster he would have taken me with him. :(

One very bent Corsa, one very lucky lad.

Glad all is well for the lad... We all have to have these little moments to improve our driving ::) ::) I was lucky in that mine was very minor and took the cockiness out of my young attitude ::) ::)

That was a long time ago now but has stood me in good stead :y :y

The car can be fixed but he's OK, that's the main thing!

And I'm sure he'll probably be far more concerned about the car than his Mum will be :-? :-?

That's on the lines of what I said to his Mum, we were all 17 once, just the cars we drove were slower. He is a canny lad, not like some of the oikes we get these days.  :y

SACRALIDGE  :o :o :o

My youngest step son is 17 in a couple of months, and talking car's. It was Scooters a year ago.
Have been telling him for about 10 years that the only car I will let him drive is a Mine, and I mean a proper one :y
The lad who crashed is one of his friends, only last week he said he was going out with another friend who had just passed his test, you have to worry be we all did the same.
I passed my test on a Tuesday and drove me and a mate to Manchester for the following weekend, in a Mini Traveler (Woody) :y

Around 20 years a go, the teenage daughter of neighbours went out in a car with a group of her friends. The car crashed, she was flung fromm the car & died, the other 4 had minor injuries.

One very bent Corsa, one very lucky lad.

That's one of the prices you pay for being a mum.

The lad is lucky.  He's not only got no serious injuries, he has had an experience that every driver needs to have as part of learning to drive.

I have a nephew aged 20 in a wheelchair following a similar 'off' two years ago.  Difference was, he hit a tree!  Passenger mate lost his life sadly.  Police, ambulance, consultants all staggered that he's alive and should walk again sometime soon.
