Halfords tools offer
« on: 22 April 2009, 21:44:52 »

Today I bought the halfords 150pc kit - it's been upgraded, few more things in there I think. The case is also much much better.

£97! Reduced from £199

Limited offer I think.

I also bought a mamma of a breaker bar , just to make myself feel good  ;D

I was in Halfords today for a particular tool, didn't see that offer, and was partly looking :D would have had to smuggle them into the garage though :-[  They had some ratchet spanners for half price though. :)

Std 'offer' price they have on twice a year, though now £97 instead of £99 due to VAT reduction.

I think the new set overcomes some of my previous gripes, but at the expense of more screwdriver bits and less sockets  >:(

Yup, I've bust a few bits and bobs - and I just say, I abused them.  They just ask to see receipt (so keep it!!).  Rachets (inc rachet spanners) are 1yr only on the rachet mechanism (its considered a service part - spares available)

I should add, the Clarke sockets I've broken (rather too easily, not what I would class as abuse  >:() Machine Mart posted out replacements without quibble, once I gave them invoice number.

missing about a 1/3rd of the deep sockets, and some of the torx/hex bits are now screwdriver bits, not sockets

Is that an ordinary 3/8" drive Halfords Torx? That a fault I've found with them, I've used ordinary 1/4" hex sockets.

I bought one of these today, to grip the starter ring gear on a scooter that I had to get a nut off the Crank shaft. expected to break it, save the receipt and it didn't break despite a hell of a force on it. :y :y :y
