I have a 2.5 manual
i have tried autos but found myself wanting to stand on the brake pedal every time i wanted the car to change gear.

I suppose its just what you are used to
the omega is a big "waft along" mobile  and thats what they do best  so i can see the attraction of an auto

me...?  i like to press the button marked tc in the dash and go sideways way  too much to have an auto

if you want to waft around they are great as long as you don't mind power sapping, fuel consumption, no control etc... ::)

I've driven a 2.0 auto/manual and 2.5 manual. For me, manual wins hands down.

I like to be in control :)

the 3 litre manual will creep in 2nd gear thus saving even more fuel! you can change out of 1st without even accelerating if the engines cold

i like my manual although the omega's manual box reminds me of a Vauxhall cresta its got a very similar gear change

Given the above choice of cars, of course, the auto you've driven didn't have enough cylinders or power.  ;)

We swap cars regularly, so drive a 3.0 Auto normally, and manual occasionally.

Was always for manuals, but have to say the auto really does suit the omega.

The only time I would rather the manual now is on the twisties, and having a play.

Love the gokart drive of the auto, speed there when you want it.

But the manual wins hands down for fun keeping the rev's over 4.5k

Manual a lot more economical as well, and you do have far moe control.

I just thank god Paul M is no longer here, these debates are much better now.  ;D ;D ;D

If I had to choose between them....its not an easy decision to make at all, which suprises me, but would probably settle on the manual, but would miss the ease of an auto.

Each to their own ::) ::) ::)
I agree, but I prefer to "drive" the car rather than be a passenger (which is how I feel in an Auto).

I drive a Auto E320 for work and I hate it!  :(
